In 1943, Tyneham, a Dorset village with a history dating back to the Domesday Book, was requisitioned by the War Office for military training. Residents were given 28 days to vacate, leaving behind homes, a church, and a school. Despite promises of return, they never did. Today, Tyneham remains largely unchanged, with roofless cottages and a preserved church, offering a poignant glimpse into a bygone era. (tynehamvillage.org)
