Anne Hathaway's Cottage, located in Shottery near Stratford-upon-Avon, was originally a farmhouse built in 1463. It was the childhood home of Anne Hathaway, who married William Shakespeare in 1582. The Hathaway family, prosperous sheep farmers, expanded the property in the early 17th century, adding a first floor and chimneys. In 1892, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust acquired the cottage, and after a fire in 1969, it was restored. Today, it serves as a museum, showcasing original furniture and a garden designed by horticulturist Ellen Willmott. (shakespeare.org.uk)
