## Linton Park Almshouses
In 1610, Sir Anthony Mayne of Linton Place established the original almshouses to provide shelter for four poor estate workers' families and widows of good character. In 1749, Robert Mann rebuilt them, adding distinctive gables and finials, and increased the original stipends from 13 shillings and fourpence to 20 shillings for each family. By 1971, the almshouses underwent further renovation, creating an additional house and modifying architectural features. Today, the Linton Park Almshouses continue to serve the community, offering five one-bedroom cottages to those in need. (lintonparishcouncil.gov.uk)
