## Kidwelly Castle
In 1136, Welsh princess Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd led a valiant assault on Kidwelly Castle, aiming to reclaim it from Norman control. Tragically, she was captured and executed, but her son, the Lord Rhys, successfully seized the castle in 1159, holding it until his death in 1197. The Normans regained control thereafter. The castle's design evolved over time, notably in the late 13th century, when the Chaworth family transformed it into a formidable concentric fortress. This design featured multiple defensive walls within each other, enhancing its resilience. In 1403, during the rebellion of Owain Glyndŵr, the castle withstood a prolonged siege, underscoring its strategic significance. Today, Kidwelly Castle stands as a testament to Wales's turbulent history, offering visitors a glimpse into its medieval past.
