## The Steam Packet Inn, Ipswich

The Steam Packet Inn, located at 2/4 Duke Street in Ipswich, Suffolk, was a public house that ceased operations on 18 September 1960. The building, dating back to the early 19th century, was owned by Cobbold Brewery at the time of its closure. Following its closure, the property was sold to Eastern Counties Farmers (ECF) and has since been repurposed as student accommodation. (en.wikipedia.org)

Historical records indicate that the inn was known as "The Compass" in 1778 and later as "The Compasses" in the early 19th century. By 1912, it was listed as the "Ipswich Steam Packet Tap" at 2-4 Duke Street and Dockside. (suffolk.camra.org.uk)

The building is a Grade II listed structure, reflecting its architectural and historical significance. (commons.wikimedia.org)
