This dock was constructed on the site of the Pool, a natural tidal inlet that extended along what is now Paradise Street, Whitechapel, Old Haymarket, and Lord Street. (en.wikipedia.org) The Old Dock remained in use until 1826, after which it was filled in, and the area underwent various developments, including the construction of Liverpool's fourth Custom House between 1828 and 1837. (en.wikipedia.org) In the early 21st century, the Old Haymarket area underwent significant regeneration, blending Edwardian conversions with new buildings to create high-quality urban commercial spaces.
