In 1868, 62 Castle Street was constructed for the Alliance Bank, featuring a domed banking hall with paired Corinthian columns. Designed by architects Lucy and Littler, the building's stone façade was adorned with carved balustrades, cornices, swags, arches, and pilasters, reflecting the architectural grandeur of the era. (en.wikipedia.org) After the Alliance Bank's collapse, the building housed the National Bank and later the North and South Wales Bank. In 1986, it was converted into the Trials Hotel, catering to visitors of the nearby law courts. By 2004, it had been refurbished and renamed 62 Castle Street Hotel, offering boutique accommodations. Today, it continues to serve as a hotel, preserving its historical significance while adapting to modern hospitality standards. (62castlestreethotel.co.uk)
