In 1853, Hitchin's Corn Exchange was inaugurated in the Market Place, providing a dedicated venue for grain trading. Designed by architect William Beck, this neoclassical building featured a grand hall supported by cast iron columns. Over time, its role evolved; during World War II, it served as a British Restaurant offering meals to those in need. Post-war, it hosted a skating rink and, in the 1980s and 1990s, became a centre for crafts and antiques. By 2009, it transformed into a nightclub named "Que Pasa," and in 2013, it was rebranded as "Pitcher and Piano." In August 2024, following a management change, the establishment adopted the name "The Glasshouse." (en.wikipedia.org)
