In 1831, St John's College in Cambridge unveiled the Bridge of Sighs, a stone-covered arch designed by Henry Hutchinson. This bridge, connecting the college's Third Court and New Court across the River Cam, was inspired by the Venetian Bridge of Sighs, though their architectural styles differ. Queen Victoria, upon visiting in 1847, admired the bridge, remarking on its picturesque beauty.
