## Alloway Auld Kirk
In 1516, the Alloway Auld Kirk was established, incorporating elements of a 13th-century church. By the late 17th century, it had fallen into disrepair and ceased to function as a place of worship. The churchyard became the final resting place for several notable individuals, including William Burnes, father of the renowned poet Robert Burns. Burns's sister, Isabella Burns Begg, is also interred there. The ruins gained literary fame as the setting for the witches' dance in Burns's poem "Tam o' Shanter." In 2008, following extensive restoration, the site was reopened to the public, offering visitors a glimpse into Scotland's rich cultural heritage.
