In 1910, the Imperial Castle in Poznań was inaugurated by Emperor Wilhelm II, serving as his provincial residence. Designed by architect Franz Schwechten, the neo-Romanesque palace was intended to symbolise German dominance in the region. (poznan.pl) During World War II, the castle was repurposed as Adolf Hitler's residence, undergoing significant alterations, including the construction of an underground bunker. (castles-palaces.com) Post-war restoration efforts reduced the tower's height by 20 metres.
