In 1945, Kranenburg, a municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, was heavily impacted by Operation Veritable, part of the Allied advance into Germany. The town was occupied by Allied forces on 10 February 1945. (de.wikipedia.org) Post-war, Kranenburg's administrative structure evolved; in 1945, it became part of the newly established Amt Kranenburg, which included the municipalities of Wyler and Zyfflich. This administrative unit was dissolved on 1 July 1969, leading to the formation of the current municipality of Kranenburg.
