## Vine Cottage

Vine Cottage, located at 1 Church Road in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, is a Grade II listed building dating back to around 1835. The 1842 Tithe map indicates its existence by that year. Constructed from stone rubble with a hipped thatched roof, the two-storey structure features four windows and distinctive 'eyebrows' over the first-floor windows. The ground floor includes a modern canted shop window and a wide door, while a central mid-19th-century canted bay with marginal glazing bars and a French window adds to its charm. A clustered brick chimneystack is set diagonally on the building. Alterations in the 20th century have been made, but the building retains its historical character. (thewrennreport.co.uk)
