## Old Borough Arms
The Old Borough Arms, located at the bottom of Mermaid Street in Rye, East Sussex, was constructed in 1720 atop parts of the ancient town wall, adjacent to the former 13th-century Strand Gate. (ryenews.org.uk) Originally known as the Blue Anchor, it was renamed the London Trader around 1728 and became the Old Borough Arms in 1897. (ryenews.org.uk) Over the centuries, the building has served various roles, including a smugglers' haunt and a guest house. Today, it operates as a family-run guest house with nine en-suite rooms, a well-stocked bar, and a café offering light lunches and renowned ice cream. (oldborougharms.co.uk)
