## Morden College
In 1695, Sir John Morden, a prosperous merchant, established Morden College in Blackheath, London, to provide a home for "poor Merchants" who had fallen on hard times. The original design, often attributed to Sir Christopher Wren, featured a quadrangle with a colonnade, housing 40 single or widowed men. Over the centuries, the college expanded its facilities, including the addition of the John Morden Centre in 2021, which won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2023. Today, Morden College continues to offer residential care, maintaining its legacy of supporting older individuals in need. (mordencollege.org.uk)
