## Dial Cottage

Dial Cottage, located on Great Lime Road in West Moor, North Tyneside, was the residence of engineer George Stephenson from 1803 to 1815. During his tenure, Stephenson constructed his first locomotive, Blücher, in the adjacent colliery wagon shops. On 25 July 1814, Blücher was placed on the nearby wagonway, marking a significant milestone in railway history. The cottage, built in the late 18th to early 19th century, features a sundial dated 1816 above its door, crafted by Stephenson himself. It was designated as a Grade II* listed building on 27 February 1950. (thewrennreport.co.uk)
