The most prominent feature visible in both photos is the Norfolk Arms building, easily identified by its distinctive arched entrance which has remained unchanged, save for modern signage. The left photo shows a cobbled street with horse-drawn carriages, while the present-day image on the right reveals asphalt paving and modern vehicles, marking a clear shift in transport mode. In the older photo, gas lamps line the street, replaced in the modern scene with electric streetlamps and traffic bollards, indicating contemporary street safety measures. The old image shows fewer cars and people, with more open space around the pub, whereas the modern image shows a narrower road, parked cars, road markings, and clearer pedestrian pathways. The trees and general street layout behind the Norfolk Arms appear consistent, but the modern photo reveals additional signage and street furniture, reflective of current urban management.
