In 1860s Oxford, Mill Street emerged as part of the New Osney development on Osney Island. Its southern end was marked by Osney Mill, a flour mill situated on the River Thames. This mill occupied the site of the former Osney Abbey, with remnants of a 15th-century structure still visible today. These ruins were designated as a Grade II listed building in 1954. In 2004, Oxford City Council approved plans for residential development on the mill site, leading to its redevelopment between 2012 and 2014. (en.wikipedia.org)
