## Astley Park, Chorley

In 1922, Reginald Tatton bequeathed Astley Hall and its surrounding parkland to the people of Chorley as a memorial to those who died in the Great War. The park, officially opened on 31 May 1924, spans 43.75 hectares and features a restored walled garden, a lake with a floating fountain, and various recreational facilities. Astley Hall, a Grade I listed building, showcases mid-17th-century plasterwork and was once home to the Charnock family. The hall and park have undergone extensive renovations, including a £1.3 million restoration completed in 2022, ensuring their preservation for future generations. (chorley.gov.uk)
