## Market Hill, Buckingham

In 1748, Buckingham's Old Gaol was constructed on Market Hill, funded by Richard Temple, 4th Baronet of Stowe, at a cost of £7,000. This Grade II* listed building has served various purposes over the centuries, including as a police station, fire station, and now functions as a museum and tourist information centre. (geograph.org.uk) Adjacent to the Old Gaol, the Town Hall was completed in 1783, designed in the Georgian style with a distinctive clock turret. (en.wikipedia.org) Market Hill remains the commercial and civic heart of Buckingham, hosting street markets every Tuesday and Saturday, offering a variety of goods from fresh produce to antiques.
