## Inveraray Castle
In 1746, the 3rd Duke of Argyll laid the foundation stone for Inveraray Castle, replacing a 15th-century predecessor. Designed by Roger Morris and William Adam, the castle is among the earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Scotland. The original design featured flat, crenellated roofs and a central tower with four wings. After a devastating fire in 1877, the castle was restored, adding a third floor and conical roofs to the corner towers, enhancing its distinctive silhouette. The surrounding village was relocated to provide a more secluded setting for the castle. Today, Inveraray Castle remains the seat of the Dukes of Argyll and is open to the public, showcasing its rich history and architectural grandeur.
