## Westwood Manor
In 1911, Edgar 'Ted' Lister, a diplomat at the Ottoman court, purchased Westwood Manor and embarked on an extensive restoration, uncovering original wall panelling and ceilings hidden beneath plaster. He furnished the house with fine furniture, musical instruments, and tapestries collected from 1911 until his death in 1956. Lister also adorned the garden with topiary and was an expert in needlepoint, upholstering much of its furniture in Florentine work. In 1943, he bequeathed the property to the National Trust, and it has been open to the public since then. (nationaltrust.org.uk)
