## Sarehole Mill

Sarehole Mill, situated on the River Cole in Hall Green, Birmingham, traces its origins to 1542, with the current structure dating from 1771. In the 1850s, a steam engine was installed, and a chimney added, enhancing its milling capacity. Notably, between 1756 and 1761, industrialist Matthew Boulton leased the mill, utilizing it as a 'flatting mill' for producing sheet metal for button manufacturing. Today, it operates as a museum, offering insights into its industrial heritage and its influence on J.R.R. Tolkien's creation of Middle-earth. (birminghammuseums.org.uk)
