## Flatford, Suffolk
In 1821, John Constable painted "The Hay Wain," depicting a rural scene along the River Stour in Flatford, Suffolk. The painting features Willy Lott's Cottage, a tenant farmer's residence, and Flatford Mill, owned by Constable's father. Initially titled "Landscape: Noon," the artwork failed to sell at the Royal Academy Exhibition that year. However, it gained acclaim in France, earning a gold medal at the 1824 Paris Salon. The painting is now housed in the National Gallery, London.
