South Dock, established in 1802 as part of the West India Docks, was designed by William Jessop and Ralph Walker to facilitate the Caribbean trade. By 1980, the decline in commercial shipping led to the closure of the West India Docks. Subsequent regeneration transformed South Dock into a marina, now London's largest, offering 200 berths and a boatyard. The area has been further developed with residential buildings, public spaces, and pedestrian routes, integrating South Dock into the broader transformation of Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs.
