## Dundee Royal Exchange
In 1854, Dundee's Royal Exchange was constructed to serve as a hub for the city's burgeoning textile merchants. Designed by David Bryce, the building was inspired by Flemish cloth halls. However, the marshy foundations of the site led to structural challenges, causing the building to tilt and necessitating the abandonment of an ornate tower in favour of a simpler Gothic parapet.
