A little history of Czech

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, boasts a rich history spanning over a millennium. In the early 20th century, the city experienced significant growth and transformation. By 1910, Prague's population had increased to approximately 668,000, reflecting its expanding industrial base and urban development.

The period from 1910 to 2020 saw Prague undergo substantial changes. In 1922, the city expanded significantly with the annexation of 37 surrounding towns and villages, including Žižkov, Vinohrady, and Dejvice, leading to a population of over 676,000. The interwar years were marked by the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918, with Prague as its capital, and the subsequent German occupation during World War II. Post-war, the city underwent reconstruction and modernization, including the development of its public transportation system. The 1989 Velvet Revolution marked a significant political shift, leading to the end of communist rule and the restoration of democracy. Throughout these decades, Prague's architectural landscape evolved, blending historical structures with modern developments, and its cultural scene flourished, solidifying its status as a vibrant European metropolis.
